Edwin P. McCabeHe was born in New York, but moved to Tulsa, seeing it as the hope of African Americans. He bought about 320 acres, coaxing African Americans there. That land eventually became the town of Langston. He started to advertise Tulsa as place free of racism and brimming with opportunities in 1889, leaving in 1908.
